Today’s message from Ralph – A Special Day
2 Timothy 3:1-5 “But mark this: there will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abrasive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God – having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.” People that live like this are unwilling to take advice from anybody. Jack of all trades, master of none. For evil to prevail at this time is for good men to do nothing. Deuteronomy 6:3-9 “Hear, Israel, and be careful to obey so that it may go well with you and that you may increase greatly in a land flowing with milk and honey, just as the Lord, the God of your ancestors, promised you. Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them to your foreheads. Write them on your door-frames of your houses and on your gates.” A godly woman/man is someone who listens and does. Not something you say, not something you think about, it’s something you do. Proverbs 1:5 “Let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance”. Psalm 81:8 “Hear me, my people, and I will warn you – if you would only listen to me, Israel!” We pursued pleasure, we were lovers of only ourselves, pursuing pleasure for ourselves alone we caused problems in our families and jobs. God says listen to Me, hear Me and do as I say. Be teachable. We all know where we went astray, even if we don’t like to admit it. God is not interested in your comfort. God is interested in your character. Remain teachable and humble throughout your discomfort. A lot of your discomfort has been brought by the poor choices we’ve made. Start listening and start doing, stop thinking we know better. Have respect for authority and do God’s will. Jeremiah 26:3 “Perhaps they will listen and each will turn from their evil ways. Then I will relent and not inflict on them the disaster I was planning because of the evil they have done.” Prerequisite to turning away is to listen. Rebels don’t listen. If we want to change our lives, we need to listen, we need to hear the Word of God. If you listen to God, it doesn’t matter what people do. Love God with all your heart, mind, soul ad strength. Stop concerning yourself with others. God’s a personal God, it starts with us. 2 Peter 2:19 “These people are springs without water and mists driven by a storm. Blackest darkness is reserved for them.” When you think you hear something better that you like more and you just change what you’re doing, that’s fickle, no keeping of your commitments and seeing things through. A person’s a slave to whatever’s mastered them. James 1:6 “But when you ask, you must believe and no doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.”
? 2 Corinthians 6:2 “For He says, ‘In the time of my favour I heard you, and in the day of salvation, I helped you.’ I tell you, now is the time of God’s favour, now is the day of salvation.” Psalm 95:8 “Today, if only you would hear His voice, ‘Do no harden your hearts as you did at Meribah (when you argued), as you did that day of Massah (testing) in the wilderness.’” A wise person listens, the Bible says that if you do not listen to the Word of God you are a fool.
