This morning’s message from Lukas
Resurrection and fulfillment of our dreams
In John 11:1-44 is the story of the death and resurrection of Lazarus. It’s about hope and trust. At the root of hope lies something that is trustworthy. When Jesus heard that Lazarus was sick He gave hope by saying that: “this illness will not end in death. No, it is for God’s glory so that God’s Son may be glorified through it.” but 2 days later Lazarus died. Lazarus was a good friend of Jesus’ yet Jesus only went to go and see him a couple of days later. When Jesus arrived to see him, He found that Lazarus had been dead for 4 days. When Jesus speaks about light, He speaks about having insight, having understanding, that light is something that reveals. Desperation is an incredibly powerful force. Our perspectives can be our worst enemies. Where God gives a promise and things go the opposite way, God resurrects the promise to prove a point. Where did you lay your dream down? Where did you lose it? Because you need to go and get it – to deal with the stuff that’s standing between you and your dream. Jesus gets moved when we lay down our dreams. Our potential is locked up in our dreams. If we don’t pursue our dreams we’ll never see our potential. In the pursuit of our dreams we get recharged, our hope strengthens. Every step you get closer makes you feel more confident of achievement. When you see your dreams fulfilled you will receive glory and recognition for it, it’s fine as long as you honour God for it and give Him the glory. In celebration of someone else, we give them recognition. Lazarus was resurrected in his grave clothes, then Jesus said to clean him up. Take off all this stuff you’ve put around your dream. All the stuff that’s not relevant to your dream so that it can walk and live. Don’t get despondent during Lazarus experiences. Ensure that where you want to go is in line with what God wants for you. Psalm 27:13-14 “I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” God says He begins and He finishes what He begins. He will establish His plan and see it fulfilled. He places every person in their circumstances and will be found there. Find God in each circumstance because it adds depth and value to the experience and creates hope. We can all do with a miracle.
