Today’s Message from Lourens
The profits of a sacrificed life.
Matthew 16:24-26 “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” Every form of external seeking’s been at the cost of my soul. My soul has paid the price. Your personality changed when you started using drugs. The Word of God will offend you and it will challenge you. Why? Because you’re supposed to be like it. Genesis 1:3-8 God gave us authority. Genesis 3:1-3 giving into temptation – what will it profit a person to gain the whole world but lose their soul? Because of their desire to have more than what they had, they didn’t have the ability to exercise their authority and they lost their soul. Luke 4:1-13 the temptation of Jesus which He resisted. He was tempted like Adam and Eve but His desire was not to gain and therefore He could resist the devil. Revelation 12:11 “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives to death.” Fights and quarrels are caused by your own selfish desires that run through your body – by loving your lives more than God. Matthew 16:24-26 “… What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? “ I am not more important than God’s will for my life. I’m not but many times I think I am. I love my life too much to partake in certain uncomfortable activities. Loving our lives too much, busyness, destroys the fire of God in our lives, it costs us our relationship with God. We have limited God terribly and along with that ourselves. God can and He wants to come into our lives and we have to allow Him to.
